@foxylad@Zax Thank you for clarifying! I have bought an EleksMaker A3 5500 mW from GearBest, but they have not confirmed that they ship the new laser. I see that BangGood does. Do you recommend cancelling from GearBest before they ship and just buy from BangGood to be sure to get the latest version?
@joelrsails personally T2 is versatile enough for everything I can think to do with a laser. You can also try bencut laser which is made for cutting. The only advantage is you can give each cut its own speed/power so you can do slower against the grain. This means you are limited to dxf files and it cant engrave.
FYI. BenCutLaser does now do image engraving (with version 2 out). I know nottingham82 knows this, but figure all you should know too.
@JürgenH. If you are happy there is no friction, everything runs smooth then adjust the belts and test it. If you see the same problem I would suggest to check the motor current (you will need a volt meter).
@mutton44 Most embarrassingly, I confess to having this problem, after playing with the X-axis tension for three days, turning off bi-directional cutting, I bumped the laser mount with my wrist while aligning a small board and it wiggled; the thumb screws holding the laser module onto the carriage mount had worked loose, and the module would lean slightly on right to left movement. I tightened them, reset the tension on the belt, and now works great.
thanks for your fast reply and sorry for my late reply!
As it turns out it really was the fault of the firmware. Apparently I had a faulty version of the Benbox firmware. With this version reflashing the microcontroller didn't change anything. After that I tried a diffrent firmware which resolved the issue. An now I even found a working version of the Benbox firmware!
Thanks for the help!
Next step is going to be figuring out how to get a servo working with Benbox. Wish me luck
the fan should and needs to run. if it is not then something has failed between the power source to the fan. If you are having laser issues too then your control board is probably fried. There are no schematics available.
