well i dont use elekscam, benbox, or GRBL laser so I dont know that my settings translate. I use T2 Laser software. The speed was 100mm/min and I used the equivalent of line by line. The power was set at maixmum which is 255 in T2.
my old settings are for my old 2 wire laser. I now have the 2.5 3 wire laser. The settings I am using for greyscale is 2000 mm/min My power is set at 0-180 and I adjusted the contrast to get a nice dark black and nice light whites. (no real science to adjusting the contrast)
Yes that is the board I am using. One problem I have yet to find a good solution to is lifting the knife at angles greater than a set size so not to brake the blade turning in the material. A rather crude work around that I found is to make a small gap to the path at the angle changes to force it to lift. I was planning to use the M8 coolant pin to lift the knife. The gcode tools extension outputs in radians but you can set the scale to 57.2958 to change to deg, I canged the py file so it stayed in deg.
yes so without tape you could not get the wheel tread. The smoke all around it would stain it and cause it get washed out. Tape gives good contrast and protects the woods finish around the engraving. If you plan to paint it also acts as a prefab mask.
