Engraving glass... a bit confused
I tried to engrave a sheet of glass, about 3 mm thick using a 2.5 watt laser, full power, speed 500.
I didn't expect it to work, but it did engrave the glass but on the bottom side even though the laser was focused on the top.
The top side is perfectly smooth, but the bottom is quite deeply etched.
Anyone know what's going on?
Use 100 mm/min or 50 mm/min at full power and it will be looks like that
engraving glass works best if you coat it in black paint. I use black primer spray paint.
I use the same method with my A-3pro 2.5w. Nottingham82 do you have the painted side facing up or down?
@asteeves91 up unless you want the engraving on the back
@ztf the glass will etch wherever the laser meets resistance. in your case, it is the "underside" because the laser it actually etching the material under the glass and the heat is transferring to the glass.
Like @nottingham82 said, i use black spray paint or acrylic paint to etch on the "top" of glass.
