Burnning Motors

  • Help, I need help with the eleks maker, I need the board layout because the motors are burning a lot, I believe the board is passing 12 volts, while the motors have maximum voltage of 4.5 volts.
If anyone knows how to solve it, I'm thinking of putting a zener diode in series with the motor, to reduce the voltage.

It is very common for stepper motors to operate beyond their rated voltage, this improves torque and the drivers limit current so the higher voltage is OK.

If they are getting hot, you don't have the current limits set correctly.

The normal Vref is 0.35 VDC for a single motor axis and 0.7 VDC for the dual motor axis.
