Cutting cloth with laser
Anyone here have experience cutting cloths? I'd like to see tests and videos about this option. An client ask me if is possible to cutt cotton.
All help and suggesting are welcome.
@Zax has some experience but I don't remember what he said about it.
ask for a sample and do tests
Cotton cuts OK but may require 2 or more passes to remove stray fibers. If you've done felt it's similar which is why I always buy the man made felt (which is polyester or a poly blend) as it cuts clean and the edge gets sealed perfectly.
While on the subject, denim (which is cotton twill) can be "engraved" at low power. It actually bleaches out the dye and leaves the cotton unharmed.
@Zax Kindly if you know the answer, what power laser is needed to cut "bed sheet" cotton fabric. Will be used to develop clothing patterns for new designs. Thank you.
ask for a sample of the cloth to be used
and run tests.
every piece of material will react differently.
YOUR personal preference for what looks acceptable is up to you.
You need to test the material yourself.
