Hi, I would like to know if the Eleks Laser A3 Pro, you can adapt a generic laser of 15w. It is for cutting plywood of 3mm. Thanks Patricio
You can connect whatever you want to the Eleksmaker frames/assembly.
Thank you very much, and the electronica with which comes the Laser A3 Pro, is optimal for this laser?
@patricio-Viera Short answer: Yes.
Check that it's really 15W continuous and not pulsed, as for cutting you need 100% duty cycle. Also see what the run time is, will it be usable for 30 minutes of cutting etc.
You can also improve cutting with air assist, which can be as simple as adding a fan like a 3D printer, or better still to use a compressor.
Lastly, make sure it is TTL so you can drive it from the Nano PWM otherwise you would need to build a circuit as 15W is too much for the MOSFET directly.
You also need dedicated power supply for the laser.
This is the laser. I do not know much about this technology so I'm asking for help. In this link is the product 15w laser.
Puedo usar este laser con la A3 Pro?
@patricio-Viera I would not recommend it.
Output is 8W for maximum 10 minutes before cool down, and pulsed at 12W (low duty cycle). Lifetime won't be very good.
It's probably a nubm44 6W diode so should really be called a 5.5W laser.
$379 for laser
$229 for A3
you can get a 40watt CO2 laser for less.
Point is, get the 40watt CO2 and have greater ability with laser.
@mrmister I agree, but they have small cutting area and need several upgrades. I would expect to spend another $100-200 on top for a good water circulation system with chiller and other upgrades.
