Need help with laser engraver
I am newbie in this and really could do with some advice please. I have decided to purchase Chinese engraving laser, engraving area 100x100xm, Laser Wattage 15W, but for some reason when you buy complete system they don’t have systems for 15W and engravings area 100x100cm and also it is more expensive than buying everything separately. Here are the link for the products:
Frame kit: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/100x100cm-DIY-Desktop-Laser-Engraving-Marking-Machine-Cutter-Engraver-Kit-Frames/322587381100?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D46661%26meid%3Da4a64425c36b41e69401f8ecef9c25a9%26pid%3D100678%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D13%26sd%3D322587381100&_trksid=p2481888.c100678.m3607&_trkparms=pageci%3A490f2907-aaa7-11e7-989e-74dbd1802130%7Cparentrq%3Af234faf515e0ab1cab731b85fffdf49b%7Ciid%3A1
None of the sellers could give me an explanation if all parts will be working if buying separately(I mean separately frame kit with wires,controller,... and separately laser 15w)or I need to purchase any additional extras in order for them to work (e.g. wires, controllers etc.) Can please anyone help? Thank you in advance
@humer2005 You may want to reconsider, there is no such diode as a 15W. They use the same 6W Nichia (or similar) diode, likely factory rejects or removed from new modules that failed QC and then over current them claiming some ridiculous output. Many do add the caveat that it's pulsed power only, meaning you get 15W for a few milliseconds (aka useless). EleksMaker and other reputable sellers will call these 5.5W output and they will be running at a sustainable current level which gives long life.
@Zax thanks for answer!maybe you have links where to buy full set with laser, frame size 100x100cm(could be 50x60cm)I need laser to cut plywood 3-4mm easy!Thank you
I buy mostly from banggood, others complain about their support but I've had no issues.
How much 3-4mm plywood do you need to cut? I have a 2.5W laser engraver, and although it can cut 3mm ply, it takes several passes at full power to do this. So if you want to cut a lot, you may get frustrated by how slow a laser engraver is.
You might also want to look at the more powerful CO2 lasers on eBay if you need serious cutting power. Ten times the power, but ten times the price
A K40 CO2 is around 2X price and will cut in one pass (easily if you add air assist and a honeycomb bed).
