Made these earrings as a birthday present for a friend on my A3.
Cut from 2.4 mm ply. Card drawn with the draw module. Both cut and drawn with T2
@vivek.khanna These were all cut from black / white 'card stock' paper. You can generate a sky map from several online 'generators'. Then a bit of post processing in photoshop / your favorite editor to get it ready to be engraved / cut.
I use a black sharpie to 'paint' the surface, resolution of 0.1 and speed on 500 (in t2). Etches easily.
Wanted to get cracking with some drawing with the A3 so whipped up this little proof of concept. Uses a linear bearing which gives plenty of weight to hold the pen down on paper. Needs a bit of improvement overall but got a good platform to build on.
Excellent job! I would recommend adding "air assist" and you will find the cutting is much faster and less smoke damage. A compressor is best, even a small air brush compressor will work (and fairly quiet) but some people have used aquarium air pumps or even a ducted fan.
It's on the to-do list next I've experimented with a ducted fan but it didn't seem to give enough thrust to blow any soot out. Keeping an eye out for a tiny compressor
Ordered some wood which turned out to be a little warped so i needed a way to level and secure it at the same time. Few pieces of aluminium later and this was made. Used some 5x35mm bolts which slide straight in to the frame. Works a treat and allows for plenty or airflow underneath the material
@Brasil Where abouts in London are you based?
Been slowly getting to grips with the engraver and made some gifts and pieces to put on the wall.
My sister had a kid and i made a star map of the location and time he was born. Had to run 2 separate jobs, one for cutting the stars and one for engraving the lines.
I had some issues with the larger prints as you can see. At some point the cutter went out of boundaries and misaligned itself for the remainder of the job. Still made for an interesting print
I'm having issues getting a servo to work on the A3 2.5 in T2 and the 1.1 firmware, too. I select servo mode / manually adjust 'power' from 50 to 35 but servo just slams to max and would prob burn out if i don't stop the 'print'. I've tried many settings but nothing seems to work for me on 1.1.
However, when i switch to firmware 0.9 and select elekslaser with Servo mode, it works as should and servo moves perfect without any additional config required. Go back to 1.1 with the exact same settings and the servo just slams to max. A temp solution would be to flash firmware before drawing and switching back when using the laser.
A few more baubles for the tree cut out of 2mm ply
@Martian I used T2Laser, 255 power, 300 speed for the cutouts. The engraving was done at 255 power, 1000 speed. The fold was done at 255 power, and 800 speed. This made for a nice crisp line to fold.
Made some cards from 250gsm paper. There are a few designs which all came out really nice.
