Hmmm, that's really interesting, are you talking about the "blue box" ones that can be bought for 400$ in China? Have you had any experiences with them if yes, could you describe the "quallity" (honestly I only expect it to be just ok), the lifetime of the laser and maybe how exact it is in terms of cutting? I think I'd have to make like 3 or 4 passes at 100feed rate using the 5.5w laser and good quality 3mm plywood, but as I can see the "40w" does that at much higher feed rate in just one pass, that would be great but who knows what are those 400$ machines like :D
Thanks yet again

Upgrade of the laser module
Hi. I am currently using the 2.5w laser but it's not enough for me. As I see, the most powerful "official" is 5.5w but that wouldnt be enough either, are there like 8-10w lasers that would be compatible with my A3 pro And also reasonably priced? A better power supply would be a must, but what about the board ? Tkanks in advance
RE: Engrave and cut - how?
Ok, so I'll show it on a jpg.
So here is the jpg. I'd like it to first engrave the "test" and then cut the contour of the heart
So as I read I should trace the heart contour, I clicked on the contour one time
The output would look like that:
As it showed me, it would first engrave everything, including the heart contour and then cut the contour.
If i trace the contour from inside and outside:
It would cut 2 contours, similar but a little offset to each other so it won't be cut as it should. I was using sketch plus mode.
I guess my question is how to make only one tracing line, not two as there is on the photo
Thanks in advance
Engrave and cut - how?
Hi. I typically export a plt file that i want to cut, and then engrave it from a jpg file.
But after it is cut it takes a lot of time to allign it for engraving purposes. I have read that it is possible to cut and engrave using one file. But how to achieve that? Could someone provide me with a step by step tutorial? Of course the settings for cutting and engraving are different and I have no idea how to combine them
RE: How long can the laser work?
Ok, so in that case I think everything os going to be ok, as the box is ventilated.
Yes, I of course am wearing the protective glasses, but lately I think my sight has gotten worse, especially after adjusting the focus, as I mentioned like 15cm from the beam. So was just wondering if there is such a physical possibility that it may be because of the laser.
How long can the laser work?
Hi. Some of my cutting projects require the laser to work for let's say 3 hours straight. I've got the 2.5w laser which is sitting in a ventilated box with constant air flow, is it safe for the laser to work for that amount of time?
BTW. My cutting settings are 140 feed rate, max laser power at 4 runs, that seems OK but maybe someone has a better preset?
The second question is about the sight safety. The only contact with the laser beam I have is when focusing it at 1/255 power, my eyes are on the dot 15 cm away for like 10-15 seconds. Is there a physical chance for the laser at such low power to damage the sight somehow?
I prefer to be a little paranoid in advance
RE: Most "extended" places on engravings are burned.
I've got the 2.5W as well. Here are the results at:
Feed rate 2900, rapid feed rate also 2900:
Min. lase power 50, max 250
scan resolution 0.05
output size: 80mm by 19mm width
Unchecked rapid skip blank
Checked dynamic laser power
There are some issues such as the letters are not so crisp from close up but overally it looks pretty good I think.
Is there anything to complain about? It took almost 9minutes to engrave, given it's size I don't think that's something impressive though acceptable.
