Stepper motors not moving
-
my stepper motors will not work need this problem fixed not been able to use my router since i built it 3 weeks ago

Could be a couple of problems. It could be a software issue. We're you able to get your firmware installed. Does everything else work as expected? Could also be a belt tension issue. Probably too tight if that is the problem. Could be stepper drivers need their voltage turned up. Could also be that your wheels on the gantry are too tight. Does it move freely when every thing is turned off?

thanks i will try a couple of the trouble shooter you touched on. software is showing all signs of working correct just. no movement from the motors but not tried the tension belt or tried moving the axis while the power is on. but my heads telling me i have a faulty board. still trying to chase banggood up to give me advice but there customer serevice is shocking

Hi tried belt tension also moving while power is on all feels smooth. I took a few pictures of the mama board on the audrino as i think this is where the problem is .

i have a red light on under the green light not sure if this is causing the problem. its hard to see as the green light comes through stronger
-
I don't think that is a problem. Mine is an older version but it only has red lights on it. So on mine red means good. On those three red boards there are Philips screwdriver heads. Those are what you move to adjust stepper driver voltage. What software are you using? Elekscam?
-
ive tried with elekscam. universal G code sender and the benbox software all seem to be running just not motors
-
If it were me I'd pull out my multi meter and see if when you send a command to move the steppers you get any juice coming out of the stepper drivers. If not it could be a software issue. If so it may be that they are not supplying enough voltage and need to be set. It's unlikely to be a dead board. Unless you see a break or something. This is a very simple machine. Usually settings or firmware are the problem. I'd stay away from benbox it's not setup for Mana boards.
-
Sounds like a dead power supply to me, have you checked that?
-
no ive not checked the power supply will look into that tomorrow i know someone who has the equipment to check the motors
-
Now that zax says that, that sounds like a very likely problem. I've heard of several bad power supplies and it would match your symptoms.

it was the power pack sent with the CNC router that dont work. i took it to someone who had a power pack pluged it in a blue light came on. ive just had to spend £15 on a new power supply its moving all the motors now but z axis motor is grinding and not moving freely ive adjusted the back but still not working im sure its a fault caused by all the tinkering to get the motors to run at last

i have problems whit the x stepper it goes 1 direction no matter if i left or right button use on benbox
