I got my Eleksmaker A3 Pro (2500mW) around Christmas and I finally had the time to assemble it. To be honest, the available documentation is not sufficient at all and should be improved but somehow I got it done.
My first real problem was EleksCAM because I was able to control the motors manually, but as soon as I started a print, only the laser was turned on but nothing else happened. I guess since I live in Germany it was a problem with the localisation but instead of debugging that I just downloaded LaserGRBL.
Now the software was able to control the motors etc. but after I've done some test prints I saw various weird problems. 1. It seems like the printer only knows 100% White and 100% Black, but nothing in between. When I tried to print some greyscales it completely burned the wood as if it was 100% black. 2. I had some lines offset (backlash?) and I guess this is a problem of my belt tension but since there is no real How-To I have no idea how tight the belts should be. I also feel like the two motors on the side move with a small delay.
I wasn't really happy with the settings of LaserGRBL so after that I tried T2Laser, flashed the firmware and made another test but it only gets weirder. Now my motors seem to jump or wobble as if one of the settings is wrong (it sounds really weird, a lot worse than with the tools I tried before) and the prints are still only black or white (I tried the Greyscale Image example).
For someone with only a bit of experience in CNC stuff (I own a 3D printer and had no problems whatsoever) and absolutely no experience with laser cutters I feel completely lost because I can't find any answers. Can you please help me to fix these first problems?
- How do I have to tighten my belts correctly?
- Why can't I get a correct greyscale? Is the laser focus wrong or something?
- Did you change any of the settings in T2Laser or should it work out of the box?
Thanks for your time and help,
